Ontario vaccinates incoming TFWs in pilot project

April 15, 2021  By  Bree Rody

On April 10, Ontario embarked on a pilot project to vaccinate temporary foreign workers (TFWs) in the province’s agri-food sector upon their arrival at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. Workers will be offered the Moderna vaccine in an effort to protect TFWs in the sector from COVID-19 infections.

According to reports from The Canadian Press, the program was run on the morning of April 10, with officials from both the ministry of health and OMAFRA, as well as healthcare workers and representatives from the Mexican consulate present to offer doses. An estimated 200 arriving TFWs were due to pass through arrivals that morning. Second doses will be administered through local public health units. | READ MORE
